A research study was carried out on the effectiveness of ReKRETE and CAAPS in removing hydrocarbon petroleum matters such as oil, grease, gasoline, kerosene and other fluids and fuels from porous surfaces such as concrete and also from non-porous surfaces such as asphalt.

Rekrete enlisted the services of Dr. Gilbert Y S Chan of the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

In addition to studying the efficacy of both ReKRETE and CAAPS in removing hydrocarbon petroleum matters, another focus of the study was made on their effect or impact, if any, on the natural environment.

Research Objectives

The research provided by Dr. Chan had the following objectives:

• To test the effectiveness of both ReKRETE and CAAPS in removing hydrocarbon petroleum matters from both porous and non-porous surfaces
• To identify the harmful effect, if any, on the natural environment of both ReKRETE and CAAPS

Tests Performed

The study included the following tests:

• Oil Removal Test
• Toxicity Test On Aquatic and Terrestrial Lives
• Carbon Dioxide Determination

Study Conclusion

Both ReKRETE and CAAPS were determined to be effective in removing petroleum-based oil While at the same time remaining environmentally friendly.
